Genetic Plain. The rainfall, most of which occurs during the summer, varies from 760 to 1250 mm (30 to 50 in) a year. Winters are clear, cool, and dry and the springs are hot and cloudy. Budaun is the market center of an agricultural district. Budaun was founded about AD 900 and developed around a fort, now in ruins. In 1196 the city fell to the Muslims, who constructed a large mosque in 1296 from the ruins of a Hindu temple. The community was burned in 1571 and rebuilt. In 1801 Budaun was ceded to the British, who established a post there in 1838. Budaun, the holy land of saints and Sufis, is a district situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The holy river Ganga flows by the district, which is located at 28z 02' 30" North Latitude and 79z 01' 20" East Longitude.
It is an administrative center and the total area of the Budaun District is 51, 680 sq. km. Budaun has a population of 24, 48,340.
Budaun has an agrarian economy and it mainly trades in grain, cotton, sugarcane, and oilseed.
Budaun used to be an important military outpost under the Mughals. Jama Masjid, which is internationally reckoned as the Great Mosque, is in Budaun and attracts many tourists every year
